Research is available at the Old Stone Church through appointment only. Please contact us at [email protected]. 

LIBRARY POLICIES AND SERVICES

  • Library open for research to LAHS members only (minimum 1 week notice requested) no fee required.
  • For non LAHS members, staff performed research is provided at a nominal hourly fee.
  • For Non-circulating collection, all researchers must fill out a Registration Form.
  • Copy of Library Use Rules & Regulations available at registration.
  • Photocopying service at nominal fee per copy.

GENEALOGY RESEARCH

​The Lemont Area Historical Society offers a significant collection of helpful resources for doing genealogical research on Lemont area families. As in the past, the majority of current day Lemont area residents live in Cook County {Lemont Township}, with the rest in Will {Homer and Dupage Townships} and Dupage {Downers Grove Township} Counties of Illinois.

While not complete for all years, this collection includes:
  • Lemont Illinois area newspapers (original / microfilm)
  • U.S. Federal Census 1850 - 1930 (microfilm)
  • Markiewicz and Gerharz Funeral Home records (~1895-1990)
  • Lemont and Mt. Assisi High Schools annuals
  • Lemont Central grade school attendance records of the 1920's
  • Registry of Lemont Homes
  • an extensive collection of maps,
  • selected church "anniversary" or "julibee" books
  • pictures, family trees and papers of local families submitted by patrons of the library
  • Historical Books including books about Lemont Cemeteries​
